Description | Eiusdem in Dominicam Precem Commentatiolum. .XLVIII-575. Finely engraved woodcut initials. One of many fine and early Isingrin editions in an almost "dreamlike" fine type. In a later (modern) Burgundy red Morocco master binding, not signed. Spine in compartments, lettering in gold, with date at foot. The covers with fine little gilded stars at center and corners in ageometrical pattern of lines. BUT!! INCOMPLETE; pp.567-70 are missing.(!!!) Collation as follows; a,b,c, in eights; a-z in 8 A-M in 8 further N1, N2 N3 then wanting N4 & N5 (pp. 567-570) N7 + N8 present (Including the last page) Basiliae per Jacobu Parcum, expensis Michaelis Isingrini, anno 1553. mense Augusto. Last 8 pp. small vertical, marginal waterstain. New endpapers that came with the binding. In spite of the defects still a very attractive copy of a very rare Baseler edition. This edition not by Dibdin. |
