Volume ll [unpaginated] contains a reproduction of the original manuscript. Included are various cards and notes signed by several participants in the publication enterprise. Both volumes clean and unmarked. Both fine. In publishers slip case. "This account of man's first voyage around the world was written by one of its few survivors, Antonio Pigafetta, an Italian gentleman and volunteer member of the crew of 270-odd men who set out in 1519 in five ships under the command of Ferdinand Magellan. Three years later, one ship with 18 men returned, Pigafetta among them. Pigafetta was a close observer and a scrupulous recorder, often writing in his ever-present notebook during the actual occurrence of events. " Since there was never a "published" account of the voyage by any participant . A very nice bookproduction, printed on fine, heavy paper by the esteemed Dutch printing office Joh. Enschede .
