Century, cast bronze, spice container, standing at 5 anthropomorhic feet, this elegant, 5 compartment spice container, has a central "locking" device; a peacock, turned loose, [anti-clockwise] it releases the [5] hinged lids, each of them crowned with a bird figure, to their subsequent containers, and vice-versa. A fine, even, dark patination. An intrinsic design of great beauty. [An almost similar container was on display at the British Museum]
