descriptionThe profile-view of the(Dutch) city of Campen (Kampen) in the Overijssel Province, seen from the other side of the river, with it's impressive bridge, and sailing vessels. 2 fierce rampant lions as shield-holders with coats of arms and a title cartouche in the sky, with the text: 'Icon Civitatis Campensis Cuius Situs Insulam Fluvium eleganti Venusate Decorat'. A large horse drawn cart and some cattle in the foreground. Taken from the 1St. ever produced Towns-Atlas; 'Civitate Orbis Terrarum' by Braun & Hogenberg, published in 1585.
