descriptionTwo well dressed male, the left one with glasses, seated at a table with the cashiers book, writing utensils, and a large sum of money [in coins] clearly contemplating their huge profit....The 8 line caption reads;The Misers;the painter of this picture was a blacksmith at Antwerp, born 1460, died 1529. He fell in love with the daughter of an artist, who objected to het marrying a worker in iron thereupon he abandoned his occupation and devoted his energies to painting in which art he rose to eminence. Published in 1791 by A.MoltenoPrintseller to her Royal Highness The Duchess of York.
