descriptionA most magnificent, stunning profile view of Rotterdam at the Maas river, filled with finely etched, very detailed sailing vessels and elaborately etched, very detailed architectural details of the river bank. Published in 1694 as an atlas of this thriving city, consisting of a large plan, a large frieze with the coats of arms, 12 finely etched town views, and this superlative panoramic view, that is made on 6 sheets, here present as the central piece carrying a large banner at the top with the title in gold. Very, very decorative. This fine view never was for sale. It was intended as a gift by the Burgomasters to powerful and influential visitors, both as an atlas, or as parts of that; varying from the loose map, the loose panorama, even the smaller town views were considered as fine pieces of art.(Made my Joh. de Vou) We've also got an uncoulored, complete version of this fine and rare panoramic view, consisting of 6 mounted sheets in a stunnig condition.
